With cascading reels and multipliers, there’s a simple charm to this magical Thunderkick game.
A 23 payline video slot with multiple base game features, this Frog Grog slot game doesn’t hit every note but still has some magical qualities it’s multipliers.
Frog Grog is another quirky Thunderkick slot machine. So, is this game trying too hard to be unique, or does it really deliver an awesome experience?
We think a little a both and here’ s why.
Yeah. We are going to start with a little bit of a downer here. If you are considering playing Frog Grog on a mobile device, then give it a skip. It has not been optimized well for them.
This is because whether you are playing it on your cell phone or your tablet, the reels are just going to feel too small.
You won’t necessarily be squinting to see which symbols have popped up for you, but it is not pleasant to look at.
This is all down to the way in which Thunderkick have designed the ‘frame’ of the reels. The information here is useful, but we are positive that Thunderkick could have come up with a different way to display it.
If you are playing the slot on a desktop computer, then it is very much standard Thunderkick fare. It looks good. Certainly pleasing on the eye with plenty of magic on this 23 payline slot machine.
Interestingly enough, Frog Grog does not have any bonus rounds. There are several features found in this fiver reel slot, but all of them appear in the base game.
As a low to medium volatility slot, you should expect the wins to come in frequently too, particularly with the low house edge of 3.9%.
With a 0.10 minimum bet and a decent frequency of wins, Frog Grog is the perfect game for building up your bankroll for risker machines like the Fruit Warp slot.
Little on the grotesque side, but you certainly are going to want to nail some of those burping frogs, who also happen to be the wild symbol.
An orange frog can randomly appear when you spin (more likely after a win). When it burps, it causes all the symbols on the same row or column to explode, forcing new ones to fall into play.
Except those burping frogs add to the number of symbols removed, almost every time.
Whenever you score a win on the reels, the symbols will disappear and new ones will fall into place.
Each consecutive win you get during this slot feature will force up the multiplier (hence the use of the real estate at the side of the game).
A second win will give you a x2 multiplier. Then you move onto a x3, x5 and x7. It is surprisingly easy to hit that x7 too, which is lovely.
If you do not win when new symbols fall into place, there is a small chance for you to trigger a bonus feature.
This will, essentially, make all the low paying symbols explode. This will increase your chances of winning.
It is not a feature that we have triggered all that often, mostly because you will always score a win or two when those symbols start to fall in place, but it is nice to have on occasion.
We can’t say that this feature is the most unique in the world. In fact, we know it is not, but we suppose it is fine if you love the Thunderkick way of doing things, and the low volatility certainly does help.
If you are playing the Frog Grog mobile slot, we’d have to say no. It is not a particularly well-designed slot for mobile devices, and none of the features are unique enough for you to let this slide.
Which is also true of the online slot, but you can forgive them more easily on the bigger screen. After all, this isn’t the first time we would have played on a game with non-unique features and the theme is pretty enough there.
We doubt you’ll play this long into the night, but as a mid-way slot to help build your bankroll to hit the more dangerous games? Yeah, sure, you’ll get some satisfaction with this low variance game.
